1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and and release of the new album?

Right now we are doing some small-scale promotion. We are also waiting for the CD version to arrive from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, it has become slightly delayed. But LP and MC were released on time. In addition to this, we will try to make a few shows during the next year.
There is also work going on to release a compilation double CD with mostly demo material. It will probably be released next year. Then there is plans for a split 7” with Excruciation next year.
So the machinery rolls on so to speak. Continue reading

Sarcophagus In The Sky

I’ve been a fan of these guys from the earliest days of Runemagick‘s melodic black/death metal to their transition towards death/doom and even a short foray into creepy Electric Wizard worship. While they were always inspired and hugely productive in the recording studio, I don’t feel like they were allowed to truly experiment like crazy until the final few recordings as Runemagick. Once that group dissolved, Heavydeath began to fester in the form of several jam-based demo recordings. These demos show an amazing evolution as they shaped their style. If you have the time and interest, go to their bandcamp page and listen closely to their sound and concept shaping into what would become their debut ‘Eternal Sleepwalker’. It is a perfectly unique style of spooky doom metal, darkened death/doom and what I’d describe as classic horror psychedelia. Continue reading

Sarcophagus In The Sky

Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album before going into a very slow and heavy doom metal direction which also uses a great amount of dark sounding melodies while the vocals are mostly death metal growls along with some melodic chants also being utilized in certain sections of the recording. Sarcophagus In The Sky

The Swedish doom band who is no stranger to this blog is back. The lines between death metal and doom are much clearer on this album. In fact this would border that where doom and sludge meet more than death metal .The vocals are low and gruff , but not totally growled going into the ten minute opening. It does build into more of a moving rumble, but stays pretty satisfied in its own shadows. “Hunter” has more movement and gets closer in it’s throb to sludge. Though there is a very depressing energy to it’s melody. The vocals are more of a growl here, though this song is more melodic than the first. Continue reading
